RBI Government Bond Auction Results Today

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the government bond auction results for two key securities. The RBI government bond auction drew strong market participation, with both securities fully subscribed. All bids were accepted, and no devolvement on Primary Dealers was reported.

Key Auction Details

The auction covered two government stocks: the 6.36% GS 2031 and the 7.71% GS 2066. For the 6.36% GS 2031, the notified amount was ₹21,000 crore. The cut-off price was set at ₹99.75, reflecting an implicit yield of 6.4218%. The RBI accepted the full notified amount in this tranche.

Meanwhile, the 7.71% GS 2066 carried a notified amount of ₹11,000 crore. Its cut-off price was ₹103.23, with an implicit yield of 7.4543%. Additionally, the RBI accepted the complete ₹11,000 crore for this long-dated security as well. Therefore, the total amount raised across both securities stood at ₹32,000 crore.

What This Means for Investors

The clean sweep in the RBI government bond auction signals healthy demand from institutional investors. No devolvement on Primary Dealers indicates that the market absorbed the supply comfortably. As a result, investor confidence in Indian government securities remains firm.

The 7.71% GS 2066 is a long-tenor bond maturing in 2066. However, its yield of 7.4543% at cut-off reflects current long-end market sentiment. For example, such results help the government manage its borrowing programme smoothly. Short-tenor bonds like the 6.36% GS 2031 continue to attract steady demand at competitive yields.

About the RBI Bond Auction Process

The RBI conducts government bond auctions regularly on behalf of the Government of India. Primary Dealers play a key role in underwriting these auctions. When demand is strong, devolvement does not occur, which is a positive sign. These results are part of Press Release 2026-2027/642, issued by Ajit Prasad, Deputy General Manager (Communications), RBI.

Investors and market participants can track future RBI government bond auction announcements on the RBI’s official website. Such auctions are central to India’s sovereign debt management strategy.
