India’s money market operations on July 15, 2026, showed significant liquidity absorption by the Reserve Bank of India. The RBI money market data reveals a net liquidity absorption of ₹1,30,684.18 crore on an outstanding basis, signalling tight short-term funding conditions.
Key Details of RBI Money Market Operations
The overnight segment recorded a total volume of ₹6,63,371.09 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.14%. Call money traded at a weighted average rate of 5.24%, ranging between 4.60% and 5.35%. Meanwhile, Triparty Repo dominated overnight volumes at ₹4,58,374.40 crore, trading at 5.13%. Market Repo contributed ₹1,79,142.84 crore at 5.15%, while Repo in Corporate Bonds added ₹7,452.85 crore at a higher rate of 5.34%.
The term segment saw comparatively lighter activity. Notice Money traded at ₹734 crore with a weighted average rate of 5.20%. Additionally, Term Money volumes stood at ₹707 crore, ranging between 5.60% and 5.85%. Term Triparty Repo recorded ₹3,070 crore at 5.16%, while Term Market Repo saw minimal activity at just ₹54.90 crore.
RBI Liquidity Operations and Reserve Position
Under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility, the RBI conducted no fixed-rate or variable-rate repo operations on this date. However, banks accessed the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) for ₹5,598 crore at 5.50%. As a result, the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) absorbed a significant ₹1,46,366 crore at 5.00%, leading to a net daily liquidity absorption of ₹1,40,768 crore from today’s operations.
The Standing Liquidity Facility availed from RBI stood at ₹10,083.82 crore. Therefore, net outstanding liquidity reflected an injection of ₹10,083.82 crore, before accounting for daily operations. On a combined basis, net liquidity showed an absorption of ₹1,30,684.18 crore.
Scheduled Commercial Banks held cash balances of ₹7,68,613.70 crore with the RBI as on July 15, 2026. For example, the average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 15 was ₹7,98,115 crore, indicating banks are slightly below the required threshold. The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction was nil. Net durable liquidity as on June 30, 2026, stood at a surplus of ₹4,99,485 crore.
