The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released its money market operations data for July 22, 2026. The overnight segment recorded a total volume of ₹6,59,097.60 crore. The weighted average rate across this segment stood at 5.25%, with rates ranging from 3.00% to 5.50%.
Key Details of Money Market Operations
The overnight segment covered four sub-segments. Call Money volumes reached ₹14,662.89 crore at a weighted average rate of 5.38%. Triparty Repo dominated activity, with volumes of ₹4,59,373.95 crore at 5.22%. Additionally, Market Repo recorded ₹1,78,647.36 crore, while Repo in Corporate Bonds contributed ₹6,413.40 crore at 5.48%.
The term segment showed comparatively lower activity. Notice Money volumes stood at ₹156.15 crore, and Term Money reached ₹459.25 crore. Meanwhile, Term Triparty Repo and Term Market Repo recorded ₹3,005.00 crore and ₹1,557.37 crore respectively. No transactions occurred in the Term Repo in Corporate Bond segment.
RBI Liquidity Operations and Reserve Position
The RBI conducted a Variable Rate Repo operation on July 22, 2026, injecting ₹7,200.00 crore for a two-day tenor at a cut-off rate of 5.26%. The Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) absorbed ₹216.00 crore at 5.50%. As a result, the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) absorbed ₹1,29,551.00 crore at 5.00%.
Net liquidity from today’s operations showed an absorption of ₹1,22,135.00 crore. However, outstanding repo operations from previous days totalled ₹1,06,342.00 crore. Therefore, the net liquidity position, including outstanding operations, reflected a marginal deficit of ₹2,884.18 crore.
Scheduled Commercial Banks held cash balances of ₹8,19,309.39 crore with the RBI as on July 22, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 31, 2026, stands at ₹8,15,720.00 crore. The Government of India’s surplus cash balance for auction purposes stood at ₹7,200.00 crore. Net durable liquidity, as on June 30, 2026, remained in surplus at ₹4,99,485.00 crore, indicating overall systemic comfort.
