RBI Money Market Operations: July 24, 2026

The Reserve Bank of India released its money market operations data for July 24, 2026, revealing significant liquidity absorption activity. Overall, the overnight segment recorded a total volume of ₹6,80,990.58 crore. The weighted average rate for this segment stood at 5.07%, with rates ranging from 0.01% to 5.40%.

Key Money Market Operations Data

Call Money transactions totalled ₹20,906.96 crore, with a weighted average rate of 5.12%. Meanwhile, Triparty Repo dominated overnight volumes at ₹4,78,230.15 crore, averaging 5.05%. Additionally, Market Repo contributed ₹1,75,386.02 crore at a weighted average rate of 5.10%. Repo in Corporate Bonds added ₹6,467.45 crore at a slightly higher rate of 5.29%.

The term segment saw comparatively lower activity. Notice Money recorded ₹81.85 crore at 5.04%, while Term Money volumes reached ₹153.50 crore. Term Triparty Repo stood at ₹2,802.00 crore, and Term Market Repo settled at ₹736.00 crore with a weighted average rate of 5.40%.

RBI Liquidity Operations and Reserve Position

On the RBI operations front, the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) saw ₹55 crore availed at 5.50% for a one-day tenor. However, the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) absorbed a much larger ₹1,74,908 crore overnight at 5.00%. As a result, net liquidity from today’s operations reflected an absorption of ₹1,78,362 crore.

For outstanding operations, a Variable Rate Repo Operation of ₹72,051 crore remained active at 5.26%, maturing on July 27, 2026. The Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the RBI stood at ₹12,979.66 crore. Therefore, net liquidity from outstanding operations showed an injection of ₹85,030.66 crore. However, combining today’s and outstanding operations, the net liquidity position reflected an absorption of ₹93,331.34 crore.

Scheduled commercial banks held cash balances of ₹8,10,498.68 crore with the RBI as of July 24, 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 31, 2026 was ₹8,15,720 crore. Additionally, net durable liquidity as of June 30, 2026 stood at a surplus of ₹4,99,485 crore, indicating overall comfortable system liquidity.
