RBI Money Market Operations: July 25, 2026

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released its money market operations data for July 25, 2026, a Saturday. Overall, overnight market activity recorded zero volume across all segments. However, the RBI conducted key liquidity operations through its standing facilities on this date.

Key Details of RBI Money Market Operations

On July 25, 2026, the overnight segment showed no transactions. This included Call Money, Triparty Repo, Market Repo, and Repo in Corporate Bonds. Additionally, the Term Segment recorded zero volume across all sub-categories. Such outcomes are typical for weekend trading sessions in Indian money markets.

The RBI’s Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) saw banks borrow ₹60 crore at 5.50% for a one-day tenor. Meanwhile, the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) absorbed a significant ₹1,74,673 crore at 5.00% overnight. As a result, net liquidity absorbed from today’s operations stood at ₹1,74,733 crore.

Liquidity Position and Reserve Status

Among outstanding operations, the RBI’s variable rate repo operation from July 20, 2026, still has ₹72,051 crore outstanding at a cut-off rate of 5.26%. Additionally, the Standing Liquidity Facility (SLF) availed from the RBI totalled ₹12,979.66 crore. Therefore, net liquidity from outstanding operations showed a net injection of ₹81,521.66 crore.

However, when combining today’s absorption with outstanding operations, the overall net liquidity position reflects a net absorption of ₹93,211.34 crore. This highlights the RBI’s continued efforts to manage surplus liquidity in the banking system. For example, the SDF remains a key tool for draining short-term excess funds.

Scheduled Commercial Banks held cash balances of ₹8,10,466.43 crore with the RBI as on July 25, 2026. The average daily Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR) for the fortnight ending July 31, 2026, stands at ₹8,15,720 crore. Meanwhile, net durable liquidity as on June 30, 2026, recorded a surplus of ₹4,99,485 crore, indicating comfortable systemic liquidity conditions overall.

The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on July 24, 2026, was nil. This data, sourced from RBI and CCIL records, reflects the latest snapshot of India’s short-term money market operations under the Liquidity Adjustment Framework.
