The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released its RBI money market operations data for July 5, 2026. The report shows zero activity across all overnight and term money market segments. However, key liquidity management tools remained active on this date.
Key Details of Money Market Activity
All overnight segments recorded zero volume on July 5, 2026. These include Call Money, Triparty Repo, Market Repo, and Repo in Corporate Bonds. Additionally, term segment instruments such as Notice Money, Term Money, and related repos also reported no transactions. As a result, the market saw no weighted average rates or ranges for the day.
The RBI conducted Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) operations worth ₹45 crore at a rate of 5.50%. Meanwhile, the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) absorbed a significant ₹1,89,324 crore at 5.00%. Therefore, net liquidity absorbed from today’s operations stood at ₹1,89,279 crore.
RBI Liquidity Position and Reserve Data
Outstanding operations also reflected continued liquidity absorption. The SDF absorbed an additional ₹6,703 crore across prior dates. However, the Standing Liquidity Facility (SLF) availed from the RBI added ₹11,068.82 crore to the system. As a result, net liquidity from outstanding operations showed a modest injection of ₹4,380.82 crore.
Overall, the net liquidity position — including both today’s and outstanding operations — stood at a net absorption of ₹1,84,898.18 crore. This reflects the RBI’s continued effort to manage surplus liquidity in the banking system. Additionally, the Government of India’s surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on July 3, 2026, was zero.
Scheduled Commercial Banks held cash balances of ₹7,92,864.48 crore with the RBI as on July 5, 2026. For example, the average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 15, 2026, was ₹7,98,115 crore. Meanwhile, net durable liquidity as on June 15, 2026, remained in surplus at ₹4,82,130 crore. Therefore, overall system liquidity continues to stay comfortable despite daily absorption operations.
These RBI money market operations figures help banks and investors track short-term liquidity trends. Consequently, they serve as a key indicator of monetary conditions in the Indian banking system.
