On the reserve front, scheduled commercial banks held cash balances of ₹8,27,985 crore with the RBI as on September 25, 2026. Additionally, net durable liquidity remained in a surplus of ₹10,66,303 crore as on August 31, 2026, reflecting comfortable systemic liquidity conditions overall.

For example, the Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction on this date was nil. This suggests the government drew down its RBI balances fully. These money market operations data points are crucial for banks and investors tracking short-term rate movements in India.
