RBI Treasury Bill Auction: July 15, 2026

The Reserve Bank of India has announced a treasury bill auction worth ₹24,000 crore, scheduled for July 15, 2026 (Wednesday). This auction covers three maturities — 91-day, 182-day, and 364-day treasury bills. Settlement for all successful bids will take place on July 16, 2026 (Thursday).

Key Details of the Treasury Bill Auction

The RBI has set the notified amounts for each treasury bill as follows: ₹9,000 crore for the 91-day bill, ₹8,000 crore for the 182-day bill, and ₹7,000 crore for the 364-day bill. Therefore, the total notified amount across all three instruments stands at ₹24,000 crore. The auction will use the price-based multiple price method.

Competitive bids must be submitted electronically via RBI’s E-Kuber system between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM. Meanwhile, non-competitive bids must be submitted between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM. The RBI will announce results on the same day as the auction.

Who Can Participate in the Treasury Bill Auction

A wide range of participants can take part in this auction. State Governments, Union Territories with legislature, eligible Provident Funds, and designated Foreign Central Banks can all participate on a non-competitive basis. Additionally, their allocations will be outside the notified amount.

Individual retail investors can also participate through RBI’s Retail Direct portal at rbiretaildirect.org.in. However, allocations for retail investors are capped at a maximum of 5 percent of the notified amount. This makes the treasury bill auction accessible to everyday savers, not just institutional players.

Bidding Process and Contact Information

All bids must be submitted electronically through the E-Kuber system. Only in the event of a system failure will the RBI accept physical bids. As a result, bidders should contact the Public Debt Office at 022-22603456 or 022-22603457 if physical submission becomes necessary.

For technical difficulties with the Core Banking system, participants should reach the Core Banking Operations Team at 022-69870466 or 022-69870415. For other auction-related queries, the IDMD auction team is available at 022-22702431. The auction terms follow Government of India General Notification F.No.4(2)-B(W&M)/2018, dated March 26, 2025.
