RBI Treasury Bills Auction: July 8, 2026

The Reserve Bank of India has announced a RBI treasury bills auction scheduled for July 8, 2026. The auction covers three tenors — 91-day, 182-day, and 364-day T-bills — with a combined notified amount of ₹24,000 crore.

Key Details of the RBI Treasury Bills Auction

The RBI will auction 91-day T-bills worth ₹9,000 crore, 182-day T-bills worth ₹8,000 crore, and 364-day T-bills worth ₹7,000 crore. Therefore, the total amount on offer stands at ₹24,000 crore. Settlement for all three instruments will take place on July 9, 2026 (Thursday).

The auction will follow a price-based multiple price method. Competitive bids must reach the RBI’s E-Kuber system between 10:30 am and 11:30 am. Non-competitive bids, however, must be submitted between 10:30 am and 11:00 am on the same day. The RBI will announce results on the auction date itself.

Who Can Participate and How

Retail investors can also take part in this RBI treasury bills auction on a non-competitive basis. Additionally, State Governments, Union Territories with legislature, eligible Provident Funds, and designated Foreign Central Banks may participate non-competitively. For retail investors, allocation is capped at 5 percent of the notified amount.

Individual investors can place bids conveniently through the RBI Retail Direct portal at rbiretaildirect.org.in. This makes treasury bills accessible to ordinary savers, not just institutional players. Non-competitive allocations remain outside the notified amount, so they do not reduce the quota for competitive bidders.

Bidding Process and Contact Information

All bids must be submitted electronically via the E-Kuber system. As a result, physical bids will only be accepted in the event of a system failure. In such cases, bidders should contact the Public Debt Office at 022-22603456 or 022-22603457 before the auction closes.

For technical issues with E-Kuber, contact the Core Banking Operations Team at 022-69870466 or 022-69870415. Meanwhile, for other auction-related queries, reach the IDMD auction team at 022-22702431 or 022-22705125. Successful bidders must complete payment by July 9, 2026.

This RBI treasury bills auction offers a low-risk, short-term investment opportunity for both institutional and retail participants across India.
