RBI Treasury Bill Auction: ₹24,000 Crore on July 1

The Reserve Bank of India has announced a RBI treasury bill auction worth ₹24,000 crore, scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The auction covers three maturities — 91-day, 182-day, and 364-day Treasury Bills. Settlement for all successful bids will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Key Details of the RBI Treasury Bill Auction

The RBI will auction ₹9,000 crore worth of 91-day T-bills, ₹8,000 crore of 182-day T-bills, and ₹7,000 crore of 364-day T-bills. Therefore, the total notified amount across all three instruments stands at ₹24,000 crore. The auction will follow a price-based, multiple-price method.

Competitive bids must be submitted electronically through the RBI’s E-Kuber system between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM. Meanwhile, non-competitive bids must be submitted by 11:00 AM on the same day. Results will be announced on July 1, 2026 itself.

Additionally, State Governments, Union Territories with legislature, eligible Provident Funds, and designated Foreign Central Banks can participate on a non-competitive basis. Their allocation will be outside the notified amount.

What This Means for Retail Investors

Individual investors can also participate in this RBI treasury bill auction as retail investors. However, their allocation is capped at a maximum of 5 percent of the notified amount. This makes Treasury Bills an accessible, low-risk investment option for everyday savers.

Retail investors can place non-competitive bids easily through the RBI Retail Direct portal at rbiretaildirect.org.in. As a result, individual participation in government securities has become simpler than ever. This initiative continues to strengthen retail access to sovereign debt instruments in India.

In case of system failure, physical bids will be accepted at the Public Debt Office before the auction closes.
